Meet your host
Meet your pro: Rick Hammerquist. Also known as “Hammer Time”, “Hammer” or “The Hammer.” Rick is a Level II certified pickleball instructor through the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA), a two-time USA Pickleball National Champion in men’s doubles, and a bronze medalist in men’s singles. With six years of teaching experience, Rick currently serves as a pro at Pickleball Kingdom in Tigard, Oregon.
Rick brings a unique perspective as a physical therapist, with extensive experience in biomechanics and movement. He uses that expertise to help players improve performance, reduce pain, and prevent injury so they can keep doing what they love: playing pickleball.
His teaching philosophy is simple: assess each player’s technique, make simple corrections, set attainable goals, provide positive feedback, teach strategy, and HAVE FUN!
Rick’s passion for pickleball is infectious, and he can’t wait to share it with you! Rick and his wife, Karin, look forward to welcoming you to the courts of Jamaica!

Each day, Coach Rick will offer a clinic with a different focus, giving you the opportunity to sharpen your skills, learn new strategies, and have fun while you play. Prefer a more relaxed morning? You can drill, play games, or simply enjoy time on the courts with new friends.
For those who love a little friendly competition, Round Robin tournaments will be organized by skill level, giving everyone a chance to play with and against players of similar ability.

Silver Sun Beachfront
The beachfront rooms are located on the second and third levels of the Silver Sun buildings. Inside, the spacious room is adorned with custom-crafted furnishings, a four-poster king-size bed, and large smart TV. Outside, a glass door leads to a balcony offering sweeping views of the pristine south coast beach and lush tropical gardens.
Beachfront Two Queen Suite
New to Sandals Resort! Two queen beds offer friends a comfortable travel option. Located on the second and third levels of the Silver Sun buildings with beachfront views. The room includes a sofa, stocked bar, smart TV, walk-in shower, and separate soaking tub. Plus, all the exclusive perks that come with being part of Club Sandals.

Everyone is welcome! Whether you're a seasoned player, new to the game, or simply enjoy a casual match now and then, you'll feel right at home. And if pickleball isn't your main reason for coming, you're welcome too! Many guests come to relax, enjoy the beautiful resort, and spend time with friends and family while taking advantage of everything Sandals South Coast has to offer.
Traveling with a spouse or friend who doesn't play? They'll love relaxing at the resort and joining you for meals, entertainment, and island adventures.

The Sandals Resort package is January 8–15, 2027. Because most flights from the West Coast will require an overnight journey, you will likely need to depart the U.S. on January 7 in order to arrive in Jamaica on January 8.
Booking Your Flights
Book your flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).
When searching for flights, consider a red-eye flight departing January 7.
Another option is to fly to the East Coast on January 7, stay overnight, and continue to Jamaica on January 8.
Your return flight on January 15 should be scheduled for late morning or afternoon.
Sandals provides transportation from the resort to the airport. The shuttle will drop you at the airport approximately three hours before your scheduled departure.
